What IS A Photographer Anyway?

As photographers, we've all seen the digital age joke about how anyone with a nice camera is now a "photographer!"  I may get some booos from long time photogs for saying this - but I agree that they are!  I also think my 4 year old daughter with her crayola camera is a photographer.

Photography may be very technical at times, but it's also an art.  It's trying to capture something you see or how you see it, no matter how well you do it!  And in today's economy, photography is an excellent way to make some extra money with it's now low start up cost since film seemed to disappear.  And maybe some photogs charge more or less than others, but some photogs also have more or less skill or experience than others.  Often times, you may get what you pay for -- but you may get lucky too if you're photographer is just trying to start out but has a natural eye for the art!

So, like the long asked question ~ What is Art?  My Answer to "What IS a Photographer?"...  Well, if you have the ability to press the shutter button - I think you have the ability to be a photographer!  I can't promise everyone will buy your photo packages or art, but like art ~ photography is a personal art and really, there are no rules!  And that's maybe why I love it most of all!
